Dehradun to host workshop on Earthquake Precursor Analysis and Geodynamics
A one-day workshop on 'Trends and Future Perspectives of Earthquake Precursor Analysis and Geodynamics' is going to be held at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO, Dehradun, on 26th October to deliberate on issues related to earthquake precursors and challenges in their recognitions.

"The aim of the workshop is to discuss the emerging techniques to study earthquake precursors and geodynamics with an overall objective of early detection of devastating earthquakes," stated the organizing unit Geosciences Department Geosciences and Disaster Management Studies Group Indian Institute of Remote Sensing at IIRS.

The workshop will discuss the present day scenario of earthquake precursor studies and geodynamics and to propose a roadmap for future research and development programmes in the area with the objectives of eliciting for future R&D initiatives on geo-science and disaster management studies.

The topics such as inter-seismic deformation using DGNSS and DInSAR observations; ionospheric disturbances and precursors (TEC and VLF); and thermal and unconventional precursors will be discussed.

The workshop will result into a conclusion and way forward in the form of recommendations for mitigating the disasters that occur due earthquakes.
