Delhi has a history, unlike a city like Mumbai, yet it has no memory. Everyone appears deceived about the Delhi they live in. For them, Delhi is those cars, their palatial houses and Punj baroque. Delhi is everything and nothing. It's a great city and yet
EVERYONE WONDERS so as to what kind of a city is Delhi! Delhi's problems—pollution through vehicles and industry, lack of drinking water and electricity, road accidents—affect its citizens across class, caste and gender barriers, though it doubtless affects the poor more.
But nobody seems to be scared of these problems. All those orthodox arguments about how Delhi is that it is nobody's city. But what do this city's well-placed citizens think? As it is also the capital of India, it still has many problems embedded in it. Delhi has a history, unlike a city like Mumbai, yet it has no memory. Everyone appears deceived about the Delhi they live in. For them, Delhi is about big cars, their palatial houses and Punj baroque. Delhi is everything and nothing. It's a great city and yet it is out there slowly killing its citizens. Living each day in Delhi is an act of survival. Delhi’s citizens are facing unfathomable problem as a result of the construction works going all over in Delhi, especially the metro rail projects involving flyovers. Delhi seems to be following the footsteps of China in this regard. But people wonder so as to how many overbridges will be constructed to give a clear passage to the emerging traffic in the future! There are casualities happening due to these construction works as there has been so many news appearing in the frontline of newspapers that says so many people died as a result of the breakage of some part of the overbridge. After the mishaps generally the Govt. wakes up and gives some compensation package to the kith and kin of the deceased. Moreover, Delhi is facing the scarcity of water in this hot summer. There is no adequate water around, still people from all states are flocking to Delhi as some sort of free gifts are being distributed. Innumerable people come to Delhi everyday in search of jobs but if they don’t get a job in time, they still continue to try for time immemorial. Moreover, there are so many companies concentrated in the NCR region for which people from other parts of India are compelled to shift to Delhi to earn their bread and butter. Govt should decentralize its plans and allocate proper lands on concession basis to companies so that they can open up their branch or regional offices elsewhere in India. This way the Govt can check the uncontrollable influx of people daily into the gut of Delhi.
