Delhi and Gurgaon police organise traffic safety week
A good step to inform public about the road safety but before expecting them to follow it, police must also follow it in letter and spirit. Use of helmets, subways and over-bridges was the theme of the road safety week organised by the Delhi and Gurgaon police in the first week of the New Year.

THE FIRST week of the New Year was celebrated as the Traffic safety week by the Delhi and Gurgaon police. Indeed a great step but they also need to follow it. Most of the times, they have been found violating it. Quite often we find them driving without a helmet, unnecessarily hooting (for nothing just to overtake). The need of the hour is that we should educate ourselves first and then expect general public to follow the suit. Here are the slogans advertised during the week.

Helmets

Luck may save you once, helmet will protect you always, use ISI Helmet, always fasten strap of the helmet properly, pillion rider should also wear helmet, and it helps in saving your life.

Foggy weather

In foggy season drive with lights on low beam, reduce your speed and watch the speedometer, use parking light and wipers, be patient and do not pass the lines of traffic.

Driving

Slow down near the educational institutions or near the residential areas, drive at a reasonable speed, use seat belt while driving, and don’t attend phone calls while driving.

Road Crossing

Don’t use cell phones/ ear phones while crossing a road, don’t read newspaper or look at the hoardings while walking on the road, stop at the stop lines.

Pedestrians

Give way to the pedestrians. Every 2nd victim on Delhi roads is a pedestrian. Use subways, foot over bridges and zebra crossings. Look for the incoming traffic both ways before you cross a road.

Safety is with Protection Gear in Cricket

We don’t think there is hardly any point which a  person/ driver is not aware of but the more important is how much we bring into  our day to day practice but especially we would like to mention about the lawbreakers, our Police. Our Police among the defaulters is no way inferior to the general Public. Very often we find the Police personnel driving without a Helmet while a Pillion rider is always without a helmet. Their wireless sets are on while they are smoking or enjoying a cup of tea at a distance. At times, unnecessarily they will use the hooter, just for nothing but to overtake only.
