Delhi Budget presented in the Parliament: Electricity consumers to pay less
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented the 36,776 crore Delhi's budget in the Parliament today, as Delhi assembly has been kept under suspended animation and the President rule is in force.

Presenting the Delhi Budget, Arun Jaitley announced the much awaited subsidy on power, and has given per unit power subsidy of Rs 1.20 and Rs 0.80 for consumption of electricity between 0 to 200 units and between 200 and 400 units respectively.

The former Sheila Dikshit government had provided subsidy of Re 1 per unit for consumption between 0-200 units and 200-400 units for several years. Keeping the pre-poll promise, AAP government had provided 50 per cent subsidy on electricity consumption of up to 400 units after coming to power. The subsidy scheme lapsed on March 31.

Some other highlights of the Delhi budget are:

  • No new taxes proposed in Delhi Budget.

  • A Multi-specialty hospital to be opened in Rohini

  • 50 Dialysis centers to be opened.

  • Community toilets to be set up in JJ Cluster.

  • More night shelters to be opened.

  • Four new sewerage treatment plants will be set up.
