The Delhi High Court today passed the consent order to remove the Delhi-Gurgaon toll plaza on the Gurgaon expressway at Sirhaul. It is a huge relief for lakhs of commuters, who zip through the toll. Once the toll plaza is removed the tolling will be allowed only at the Kherki Dhaula toll plaza.
The judgment was
given by Justice Manmohan Singh
. In the judgment he also asked the
lead banker Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) to make
the payment of its pending liabilities to the present operator
Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Ltd (DGSCL).
One of the
official from National Highway Authorities India
(NHAI), said that
“We have found solution which is win-win one for all parties. But
the main focus of the arrangement is the commuters who had been
facing major traffic jam on this stretch on regular basis. Traffic
passing through Kherki Dhaula plaza will pay the toll for entire
Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told
Mail Today, “We're doing it for the welfare of the people. It is
going to be a reality and will be a big relief for motorists using
the busiest national highway in the country.”
Sharma, a MNC employee who travels from Delhi to Gurgaon said, “It's
a huge relief for the commuters. I had to wait for long during the
peak hours. Now I can reach to my destination earlier and can also
save my fuel and money.”
