THE CHIEF Justice of Delhi deserves all compliments for making the Delhi High Court the first one to initiate the system of an e-court. This move would ensure that courts become paperless, apart from controlling the rush of petitions in the court.
The group that would be benefited the most from this move, would be mediapersons, as they would be able to report on the court's proceedings right from their offices, via the internet. Currently, those medipersons who are assigned the court beat, have to run from one place to another, to ensure that a particular news item derived from court proceedings, is not missed. The E-court system will also enable them to all cases of public interest through the internet.
It would also ensure that judicial proceedings become even more transparent, with masses having an access to court proceedings through the internet. The Supreme Court should also adopt an E-court system itself and order other state courts to follow.
