IF THE perfectly groomed city people think that drugs are the toys of the street people only, then it's they woke up. Our capital is already under seige by the obsession with drugs. Children in metros have started getting addicted to some dangerous drug items such as eraser fluids, pain relieving balms, glue, paint thinner and nail polish remover.
Your car’s petrol tank can also be a part of the list. Some kids inhale petrol. And if you think that naphthalene balls are to get rid off moths, you might be wrong as many kids are using it as a drug. School-goers as little as 10 years old are also reported to be getting caught in the viscious web of taking drugs. The above mentioned drug substances are easily available in general stores and they cost just Rs. 15 to Rs. 30. Cough syrups, which we commonly use also comes under the drugs list. Excessive use of these syrups can harm our liver, fail our respiratory system, cause dehydration, impair senses and even cause cancer. The “ethanol” in it is capable enough to damage one of your body parts. Guardians and teachers cannot take a step against these kids until and unless they notice these kids inhaling the above mentioned substances. But, the addicts are smart enough to choose some deserted place to avoid people’s attention. School bathrooms, vacant classrooms, empty play grounds, alleys and desolate places are used to sniff in. So it is really very tough to catch the addict. However, its difficult to change drug due to the addiction cause by taking drugs. Depression, aggressive attitude, often losing nerve, persistent cough, and short term memory loss - are some of the indications that differentiate addicts from everyone else. According to Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences (IHBAS), this kind of addiction transfers into party drugs such as ecstasy and LSD - once the kids get older. The euphoric feelings after abusing the substances lasts for some seconds or minutes. For this the addicts tend to repeat their inhalation. All these result in serious diseases such as, liver failure, cardiac disorder, bronchitis, brain damage and cancer. The CCTV camera of a top school in Greater Noida recently captured students partaking drugs. But it is impossible to keep a camera on kids all the time. So, the only way to save and rectify children is to be cautious in observing their varying manners.

Yes this is true...Even when i was in school I used to look at the seniors who try to get addicted through petrol,dendrite and even Shoe polish..Yes shoe polish....what they do they used that shoe polish to smell or the other way is to eat that with Bread...
