He informed that there were separate ETC lanes, like silver lane, gold lane at DND toll plaza, and toll staff encourage the users to use more and more ETC lanes. Usually, at any other toll plaza in India, usage of ETC percentage is not more than 10 percent but at DND flyway it is almost 35 percent. This helps them to serve the consumer better.
Abbasi also said, “Normally the congestion happens in the peak hours, and to handle it we depute extra man power at the toll plaza. We provide tokens to the users in the queue and collect the money from them, and he handovers the token at the toll booth and goes, this saves the time of the consumer. These are some of the strategies used by us. We also provide regular training to our staff.”
Coming to the technology part he said, “Technology wise we use such softwares and hardwares which are of very good quality and process fastly, so that not much time is wasted at the toll plaza. Normally in an ETC transaction only three seconds are taken and in cash transactions also not more than 8 seconds are used at the toll booth. This is how we manage our toll both.”
He refused to comment anything on what went wrong at the toll plaza in Gurgaon, which will shortly be removed due to mismanagement.
