Delhi Police's slogan 'With you always' is not preventing crime
The capital of the country has become the capital of crime too. Whom do we consider answerable if not Delhi Police? If things don't improve stepping outside will become a nightmare for the women of the city, which it already has to some extent.

DESPITE THE innumerable crimes being committed in the city, the cops who claim to be “always with you” seem to be inactive in reality. No doubt, they help in maintaining security in the city. However, unfortunately, one doesn’t feel secure. Despite having top cops in the capital, the city is always brimming with crime.

In some way or the other, the police force tends to ignore several cases unless there is much pressure from the public. For instance, had the police been a little more alert and sensitive in dealing with the double murder case of Arushi-Hemraj, there would have been a better prospect of bringing a solution to the case.

However, since the cops did not look into the seriousness of the case in the preliminary stage, the case has become a complicated case since most of the witnesses have been eliminated while the police took the case in a light manner.

Another example of the insensitiveness of the cops can be given in relation to the case of rape of a 16-year-old girl in Northeast Delhi when the cops could arrest the accused only after seven months even after they were given the names of the accused by the victims family.

According to a newspaper report on April 6, 2011, the victims' family claimed that the cops turned away from their complaints.

On the contrary, the cops solve those cases in a shorter period of time if there is a push from the public. For instance, when a DU student Radhika was shot dead on her way to her college, there were several strong protests from the public, which pushed the Delhi police to arrest the accused in the earliest possible time which in fact, the police succeeded in their effort.

However, in order to make Delhi a crime-free city, the cops upon whom the public depends for their security must feel responsible to ensure that the city is secured rather than wait for the public to push them to do so. The cops need to become extra alert in dealing with crimes, and provide its citizens a better and safe Delhi.
