DELHI CHIEF Minister Shiela Dixit is again in news for controversies, when her Finance Minister Dr A K Walia refused to share dais on the inauguration of Metro Rail extension to Noida, because Delhi government avoided portraying Dr A K Walia in big newspaper-advertisements given on the occasion.
This aspect raises two big questions. Firstly, there should be some norms to follow protocol in this regard. Chief Minister should give clarification, if norms and protocols were bypassed in the matter as alleged by her finance minister.
Secondly, unholy practice of image-projection of political rulers and other living personalities at public-cost should be done away. Instead of waiting verdict on the long-pending writ at Supreme Court, Union government should honour wishes of its Prime Minister by making it a rule for not allowing photo-publicity of living personalities including those in legislature at public-expense both at centre and in states.
