Delhi to host academic programme on 'Emergency Radiology' to mark International Day of Radiology
In Jaipur, at the ongoing conference on medical physics, discoverer of X-Rays, Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was remembered and tributes were paid to him on the anniversary of his discovery on November 8 in 1895 which is also celebrated as International Day of Radiology.

The International Day of Radiology (IDoR), established in 2012, is observed each year to raise awareness of the benefits of medical imaging and radiation therapy.

The Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) will be celebrating the 6th International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2017), on coming Sunday, 11th November, at IRIA House in New Delhi, informed Delhi-based medical physicist Deepak Arora.

According to IRIA, an academic programme on 'Emergency Radiology' on 11th November from 03.00 pm to 06.00 pm in New Delhi for Radiology Residents and Members of IRIA. "The purpose of celebrating this day is to create awareness about the increasing role and relevance of "Radiology" and the "Radiologists" in the current healthcare system.

The day marks the recognition of radiology's impact on modern medicine. It is therefore requested that you all should encourage the junior and senior residents in your respective departments to participate in this unique academic event," stated the IRIA website.

According to the event organizers, the subject of emergency radiology is quite young as a sub-speciality within the imaging field, but it has gained enormous significance in recent years. Emergencies constitute a substantial portion of radiological cases and require efficient, effective handling with correct diagnoses and decisions in a timely manner.
