Delhi's Narela hosts two-day festival on short films
A two-day event "Aarambh: International Film Festival" was held at Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education (KRCHE) in Narela of Delhi on February 17 and 18 with the theme "Insight of the better world".

The event organizers, at the college affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, were of the view that the event was meant to appreciate and promote the talent, flow of knowledge, ideas and information through active participation by showcasing documentaries, short films, mobile making films and ad films.

The films screened at the event were either in Hindi or English, and if otherwise, they had the subtitles in either of the two languages prescribed. Also, the films were edited with a mobile application compatible for mobile phones. The purpose was to enhance the visual skills and promote short filmmaking talent among today's youth.

Mobile filmmaking is a great way to experiment with creating short films along with a narrative. It has been observed that the embedded cameras too are acquiring HD and Full HD recording and processing capabilities for creating good short films. There is need to include short films related to classroom instructions in these festivals, I feel.
