OIL AND Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) champions, who had lost to the Bahrain outfit 0-4 in their home encounter feel that it will be different story this time. Coach Mauricio Afonso does not think that Al Muharraq has a physiological advantage and instead strongly believes that the outcome of Wednesday (April 9) clash would go in favour of the team.

Coach Afonso is not considering this as grudge match and seemed confident of his side’s recovery. “It is true that we are up against formidable in all the departments. But you need to have self-belief and hope for a better show,” he told Herald.

“No doubt our match against Al Muharraq has been disappointing, still I am confident that the boys will pull up their socks and expect a good showing from them,” he added.

Dempo also aim to keep Al sMuharaq rampaging Brazilian Leandson Da Silva under control. “Da Silva at the moment is in top form and was responsible for our home match defeats. So we have chalked out plans to take care of him,” coach mentioned.

Coach Afonso plan to adopt a more defensive approach with more men at the back who will keep rotating positions to ensure that the rival forwards want have much space to work inside our penalty area. Now let see how the boys implement the strategies on the field and get the desired results.

Dempo will start without stopper back Mahesh Gawli, attacking midfielder Anthony Pereira and right wing back Valeriano Rebello, who are on the injured list.
