Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon instructs shop owners to install CCTV camera to curb crime
Following the recent crime incidents against property and persons in the state, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shekhar Vidyarthi issued orders of installing CCTV cameras at all Toll Plazas, Jewellery shops and Patrol pumps in Gurgaon under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Act.
In most of these cases, the criminals committed the crimes against property at Toll Plazas, Jewelery shops and Petrol pumps. In many cases, the criminals had managed to escape the spot after committing the crimes and hence CCTVs are a must and be installed at the first priority basis.

In the absence of any concrete proof like video-graphing, it is very hard to recognize criminals during an investigation. Therefore, to deal with such undesired incidents, the utmost importance of installing CCTV cameras at jewelery shops, patrol pumps and Toll Plazas was realized on the administration level. This can help in tracing the criminals.

Considering the importance of such necessary steps, Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi directed the Managers or owners of Toll Plaza, shops and petrol pumps to install CCTV Cameras in their premises in the city under section 144 of the code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. In this way, the culprits can be identified more easily.

He further added that the directions must be followed within 10 days of the issue of these orders. In this context, all the departments have also been instructed to bring order into force with immediate effect so that action against violations will be initiated under section 188 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
