Dera follower commits suicide by hanging himself in Ambala Central Jail's toilet
A 28-year-old Dera Sacha Sauda follower allegedly committed suicide on Sunday by hanging himself in the toilet of the Ambala Central Jail, Haryana.

The deceased has been identified as Ravindra, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Sarsawa district. He had been arrested in Panchkula on August 25 and brought to the Ambala City Jail on August 27 in connection with the violence that claimed 38 lives and left around 250 injured across the state.

According to sources, he told other Dera followers that he was going to take bath but allegedly used a piece of cloth to hang himself from the ventilation window in the jail's toilet.

Talking about the incident with media reporters, ASP Nitika Gahlaut said, "A Dera follower has committed suicide in the jail toilet. The parents of the deceased have been informed and the body has been sent for a post-mortem. Since it is a custodial death, a magisterial inquiry has been initiated. No suicide note has been recovered so far."

If reports are to be believed, there are around 500 Dera followers who have been lodged in the Ambala Central Jail for allegedly spreading violence and indulging themselves in arson post Ram Rahim's conviction in two rape cases. Since then, many Dera followers have been arrested by the Haryana police on the same charges.
