Desires: The cause of dualities and strife
'Desire' is the central concept in Buddhism, which is interpreted as 'craving' that entices humans leading to inner conflicts and illusions causing suffering. Buddhism dwells on three types of cravings, namely, kama-ta?ha, bhava-ta?ha, and vibhava-ta?ha that stand for cravings for sensual pleasures, existence and non-existence. All these desires create turmoil in mind and it leads to illusions and pains ultimately.

Here is my non-poem on a precept of Buddhism.

Wanna 'know thyself'?
Then, understand your desires.

Desires –
Through their past experiences
Identify themselves
With chasing pleasures
With avoiding pains

Avoidance and chase –
Are two conflicting desires
Are clashing dualities –
That cause illusion
That veil the Truth.

Same are all desires -
All desires split persona
Into dualities
Into inner conflicts
Into inner clashes
Leading to
Pain, strife, suffering.

Better remain neutral witness
Of all desires
As they arise in your mind
To make desires fade away.

Knowing desires are strife
Is knowing yourself.
