Destruction of green gold continues in J&K's Bhaderwah
On getting information form the active source regarding illegal cutting of green trees in Compartment No.23 to 25 of Forest block Punaja 1st,the BNB and MOK lens team rush to the compartment no. 23 and captured heavy damage and it was wonder struck to see the devastation of green Deodar trees.
"Whenever environmentalists or media persons highlight the destruction of Deodar trees, Forest officials always make excuse of departmental extraction, but they forget that green felling is banned by honorable Supreme Court. I myself was a Forest contractor and I do know that in any case you can't cut even a single tree.

But in Bhaderwah Forest Division green felling is going on unabated since years by Forest Mafia in active connivance with Forest officials" said SP senior leader/RTI activists Sheikh Mohd. Shafi and demanded that criminal proceeding should be initiated against the senior forest officials and Forest Minister should be held responsible for this irreparable loss.

Sheikh further alleged that, the forest department of Bhaderwah is plagued with favoritism, mismanagement and nepotism. Range officers and foresters are involved in many corrupt activities due to which the timber smugglers are rampantly cutting Deodar, Cheer trees in different closures of Bhaderwah. The administration has not taken any step to stop this heinous crime and neither taken any action against the smugglers. It is also said that these smugglers are giving hafta to the Forest Deptt.

Green activists have appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdulla and the Governor to look into the matter personally and demanded stern action  against the officials involved in mass bungling in forest division Bhadarwah in order to save the precious wealth of the state as well as the nation, otherwise soon the green belt of Deodar trees will totally disappear.
