Developing nation with under developed women status
As per the recent studies done by United Nations development program on gender inequality index countries, India lacks in the field of women development almost in every sphere. it is all about the gender inequality.
THERE ARE many countries in the world, which are rich in gender equality even though poor in economic status unlike India. As per the recent studies done by United Nations development program on gender inequality index countries, India lacks in the field of women development almost in every sphere.

Survey has been conducted on countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Africa, Rwanda and India. When we compete with the world in all the aspects then why are women related issues are always overshadowed? Why do women merely become a topic of discussion on woman’s day, mother’s day or daughter’s day only? As the days pass by we even forget this discussion and hardly remember our words of worth. What is the need for showing concern on one particular day?

A women activist quotes that “many poorer nations are not as unequal as we are”. Out of our patriarchal society there is inequality in food distribution system as well in the families. Often the man and boys are fed with the more nutritious food.

Women eat less and at last when all are done. On the other hand in African countries the starvation levels are same for men and women but the food is equally distributed between both the genders. Even in the countries like Iran and Libya women are enjoying higher literacy rates than India. In India whenever families face an economic crisis girl child are made to sit at home and boys are still encouraged to enjoy right to education. A report by NGO Pratham shows that government schools have more number of girl children than boys.

In terms of job codes also more women are with the mind set to opt for teaching, nursing and hospitality so that they can balance the domestic work along with the office. The static’s shows of a survey that 40per cent women out of 1.25 lakhs in twenty eight states and capitals have undergone domestic violence. What is more shocking is that 54 per cent women and 51per cent men felt it was justified.

In India 47 per cent of women get married by the age of 18 years. Only 74 per cent of women attain literacy under the age group of 15-24 years. Out of per hundred boys only 88 girls are going to secondary school. In terms of politics only 11 per cent of the women are in Parliament.

It is not that women development schemes and laws are not there. The only thing is that they are not implemented the way they should have been. Do not get fanaticized by the modernity in metros, with the women having a low status in society. Modernity has only stuck to clothes and lifestyle not in the mind sets and thoughts.

Neither has it changed the way of looking at relationships. It is not important to join the race with developed countries only but times developing nations can also teach big lessons.

It is said in the scriptures that where the women are worshipped Gods are happy there. Our former Prime minster Nehru observed that INdan culture is surviving because of it's women folk. While there are toomany laws enacted for the welfare of women; the problem is their implementation.and the lack of sincerety on the part of the powers that be.
