Development works are not affected by sudden transfers of commissioners in Gurgaon
The recent appointment of the fifth MCG chief after the sudden transfer of previous commissioner Vijay Singh Dhaiya, who served not even 6 months, has raised many questions about consistent governance in Gurgaon. This citizen journalist spoke with MCG counsellors and found that they have mixed opinion about the situation.

People are only concerned about the work and development happening in their favour. But when due to any reason it gets stopped, then it creates worries and concerns among them. After talking to some councillors this citizen journalist found that the uncertain and frequent appointment of the MCG head has not created any difference in the pace and quality of development work - though some of them had reservations.

I don't think there is any difference or difficulty in our development works due to these frequent transfers of commissioners as all work is happening on schedule," Seema Pahuja, councillor of ward 11, told this citizen journalist.

But at same time she agreed that work might get stopped for some period of time. "All work of sewage, water power which was started by Vijay Dhaiya are still going on very well and on time. But all new work which we planned with him to start havebeen  put on hold and right now no development or progress is happening towards those." Pahuja also hoped that other wards will not be affected by this move.

Councillor Sunita Kataria of ward 14 also agreed on this point. "Yes, there are some works which got affected but that is only temporary and will get begin after the new commissioner takes over."

The new MCG chief Ashok Sangwan is the fifth commissioner in just five years of MCG, and this does create a little insecurity among those who depend on this authority.

I have never seen such frequent transfers in my life in any other district as in Gurgaon. I have not even met Vijay Dhaiya many times, and had just started to know each other and planned for a better Gurgaon. But one day I read in a newspaper that he had been transferred to Chandigarh, and that Chandrashekhar took over him. I have not met him even once and today I came to know that he too has been replaced by Mr Ashok Sangwan. Why this is happening I don't know. Might be high level of politics," Pahuja observed, while feeling disappointed at the development.

I am very hopeful and expect more effort and support from Mr. Ashok. But I can't say anything without meeting him. I have yet to see him. Only then will I be able to comment on him," added Pahuja.
