DHOULA SIDDH Hydro Electric Project would be constructed on priority and it would be taken in hand by May and completed in a time bound manner. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of four-day long National Holi Festival of at historic Chougan of Sujanpur in district Hamirpur after he dedicated newly constructed Holi Manch, completed at a cost of Rs. 35 lakh, to the people of the area, last evening.

Chief Minister said that the State had conducted a survey to construct additional hydro electric projects downstream Mandi to Nadaun on Beas River waters to generate additional power not only to meet the local power requirements but also feed adjoining areas. He directed authorities to start project construction work on Dhoula Siddh hydro electric project positively by May this year and make concerted efforts to complete the same within the allotted time frame. He detailed the developmental activities, which had taken place in the area during past four years, setting new record of development in uniform and balanced development.

To meet the revenue service requirements of the people of the Sujanpur, Dhumal said that sub-divisional magistrate would be sitting for two-days in a month so that people of the area did not have to go to Hamirpur for their various revenue related works. He said that the State Government had been making efforts to provide administrative and other services to the people at their door steps.

Chief Minister complimented the people of Sujanpur on Holi Festival and wished them a joyous colourful celebration. He also congratulated local populace for the newly constructed impressive stage. He also released the souvenir brought out by the organizers to mark the celebration of Holi Festival.

Smt. Urmil Thakur, local MLA, also welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked him for providing funds for construction of Holi Kala Manch and completion of sewerage scheme. She said that drinking water supply scheme work was also in progress and was likely to meet the requirement of the local population. She detailed other developmental activities, which had taken place in the segment during past four years. She apprised Chief Minister of various demands of the area and urged for remedial steps on priority.

Rajender Singh, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, National Holi Mahotsav Organising Committee, welcomed the Chief Minister and gave a detailed historical background of the four day long fair. He detailed the itinerary of the celebration.
