Diarrhea spreading wings fast in Allahabad
Diarrhea is rapidly gaining a foothold in rural and urban areas of the district, and the rush of patients in both government and private hospitals for treatment has increased, of late, in the OPDs of SRN hospital. People from old localities are more affected with acute problem.
Filth and garbage are being cited as the reason besides supply of contaminated water through taps. What is more, in most of the hospitals arrangement for isolation wards have not been made so far. It may be mentioned that a few days ago, Kishore, 60, resident of Atala, Rukhsana (8) of Nakhas Kohna, Soni (5) of Himmatganj, Abrar (65) of Khuldabad and others were admitted in SRN hospital. Similar is the condition at Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) hospital, where patients in large number are arriving every day.
On the other hand, despite the rapid increase in the numbers of patients, isolation wards have not been set up in hospitals as yet, and all the affected patients are being admitted only in emergency wards. This is posing a threat to other patients.
The officials of health department are holding Nagar Nigam and Jal Sansthan guilty for this state of affairs. To avoid such type of disease in this scorching heat, experts advise to pay special care in daily activities along with proper diet. Senior surgeon of Colvin hospital, Dr. Rajesh Srivastava said mostly people come in the grip of the disease due to heat, poor diet, contaminated water and mosquitoes-borne diseases. These points must be taken care of, added Dr. Srivastava. He further informed that continuous vomiting and constipation increase the possibility of kidney getting damaged.
