Did Radia draw Nano to Gujarat?
Niira Radia's name has again surfaced, this time not regarding the 2G scam but related to setting up of the TATA Nano factory in Gujarat's Sanand district.
A CONGRESS MLA from Gujarat's Porbandar district has alleged in the state assembly that the corporate lobbyist has successfully mediated between Chief Minister Narendra Modi and TATA group chairman Ratan Tata to set up the factory and thus managed to get benefits worth Rs 29,000 crore from the state government for Tata Motors.

The Minister also argued that he has evidence to prove his point. Just for the argument sake if we consider that Gujarat government has given sops to Tata worth Rs 29,000 crore, with that money, two or more factories can be built and the Congress MLA is foolish enough to paint negative picture on Tata's venture into Modiland without any credible evidence, which will boomerang on him for sure.

Also, what is wrong if Radia, who is considered to be close to both Modi and Tata, mediated between them and convinced TATA to shift the factory from strife-torn West Bengal to investment-friendly Gujarat? Do we have a law to prohibit middlemen or mediators between big projects?

From selling cars, bikes, houses or industrial plots, most people rely on brokers or agents who act as middlemen to clinch the deal, which is agreeable to both the parties. Both the parties employ a mediator if they feel that they have benefited in the deal. Can any one find fault with the agent for mediating between the buyer
and seller?

In India, media hype is so high that anything related to Nadia, 2G, CWG, or any scam involving celebrity gets highlighted easily and people are fed up with sensational news that keeps on blaring for the whole day or till the time the next issue crops up.
