One reason for this defeat is that, the people of Ferozabad, who had chosen Mulayam as their leader in the previous elections, could be insulted with his decision to give up the seat, in favour of the other seat he had won.
THE NEXT generation of the Samajwadi party seems to have not caught the fancy of the public, with the defeat of the party supremo, Mulalyam Singh Yadav's daughter in law, Dimple Yadav in the Ferozabad by polls.
One reason for this defeat is that, the people of Ferozabad, who had chosen Mulayam as their leader in the previous elections, could be insulted with his decision to give up the seat, in favour of the other seat he had won. This defeat should serve as a lesson for all those politicians, who misuse the provision of allowing a candidate to contest from more than one seat in the Lok Sabha or state polls. When a person is not allowed to represent two seats, there is actually no point of this provision and it should be done away with.
The Election Commission and the Centre, should take immediate steps to impose a ban on contesting for more than one seat in both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls. If an MP wishes to run from another, he/she should resign from their constituency seat. Moreover, a provision should made that when a Lok Sabha MP contests in the state polls or vice versa, he/she should automatically lose their membership to the Parliament or the state assembly.
