Director Kalpana Lajmi of Rudaali fame in ICU: Entire Bollywood extends support
Director Kalpana Lajmi has been in news quite recently as she has not been keeping well. The veteran filmmaker is popularly known for her deep reflective films like Darmiyaan, Rudaali and Daman.

The 61-year-old filmmaker was diagnosed with kidney cancer three years ago. She was rushed to the hospital as her condition deteriorated.

She expressed her gratitude to Bollywood and shared a special note of thanks for Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Rohit Shetty, Karan Johar and few after being admitted to the ICU on Monday morning.

According to reports, the filmmaker said, "They all have helped me, from Aamir Khan, Indian Film & Television Directors' Association, Rohit Shetty, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Soni Razdan, Neena Gupta, all of them have come forward and helped me during my worst."

The filmmaker also spoke to PTI saying, "Yesterday was my partner's (Bhupen Hazarika) death anniversary so I went all the way to Vashi (Navi Mumbai) to attend program. That must have taken a toll on me. So today when I woke up, I felt very weak. I was the taken to the ICU."

Kalpana Lajmi was detected with malignant tumour on her kidney. According to doctors she would be released from the hospital in one or two days. As she suffers from kidney ailment, she has to go for dialysis every week and here she is all praises for the financial support she received from Bollywood.

She further said, "I am thankful to my film fraternity for standing by me in this phase. Specially my mother, my brother, and Shyam Benegal for their constant support."

The actress also confirmed that she would give herself another year and half to walk on her own. We wish her a speedy recovery.
