The District Legal Services Authority today celebrated International Women?s Day under the patronage of Archna Puri, District & Sessions Judge at Faridkot in Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Puri said that Woman was the main part of our society and without women it was incomplete.
She said, "All women,
irrespective of belonging to any community and income, can get free legal
assistance under Legal Service Authority Act 1987 at district level, High Court
or Supreme Court."
Which means in case they want to
have their legal rights, they will be provided free counsel services. A panel
of 42 advocates has been formed in Faridkot district which helps in pursuing
the legal cases to different categories of the society on government expenses
under free Legal Service Authority scheme.

it clear that for getting the free legal aid, there is not too much lengthy official
procedure but one can get an advocate on filling up a simple form. The
office has been established in ADR Centre/Front Office where advocate/retainer
and para legal volunteers are extending their services to provide legal advice
without any charges.

that Legal Aid Clinics have also been opened in different villages to
effectively implement the free legal counsel and assistance to the common
man. Student Legal Literacy Clubs have also been formed in the
