Novak Djokovic has looked in ominous form this US Open, as he has reached the quarter finals of the competition beating Marcel Granollers from Spain in the fourth round. The Serbian player had no trouble in winning the match, as it just lasted for 79 minutes with the score reading 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0.
“I definitely played one of the better matches that I've played in my life here at Arthur Ashe. It was 3-all in the first set and then I managed to get the right advantage and I played flawless tennis,” said Djokovic reported Times of India. He also added, "I had everything working, every part of my game. This is great encouragement going into the next round."
Novak's opponent in the quarter-finals, Mikhail Youzhny would be aware of the Serbian's record. But, if we compare the form of these two players in the current tournament, the Russian is also not far behind, where he has defeated top players such as Haas and Hewitt in third and fourth round respectively. But, Youzhny might be tired with the four and five set matches he has played in his previous two encounters, whereas, Djokovic has not lost a single set in the tournament.
Irrespective of other factors, it is for sure that when these two players get ready to clash in the quarter-finals, it would be Djokovic, who would be tagged favourites to reach the final four. In fact, his clinical game during the 2013 US Open has made him favourite to win the tournament as well.
Novak Djokovic has enjoyed a good run in the grand slams this year with his Australian Open victory along with being a finalist in Wimbledon. With such form, it would not be surprising if the Serbian wins his second US Open, which he first won in 2011.
