DLF IPL League 2010: MI thrash KKR by 7 wickets
Sachin scored an effortless 71 and led to the victory of Mumbai Indians which marked the fifth consecutive loss of KKR to MI.
AFTER PUTTING in a fighting score of 155 far less than what was achievable given that Gayle and Ganguly had a successful partnership of 70 plus runs. The KKR at the end fell 15 odd runs short. Gayle scored 75 at the strike rate of 125 plus while the skipper not defying his abilities scored at a pace of run-a-ball and lower.
With just two sixes, the score came up to 155 when Mumbai Indians, the home team came into bat. The in-form captain, Sachin Tendulkar, fired boundaries all over the field. The first two overs went for six fours. At one time the scoring rate was as high as 10 per over, way above the asking rate. Ganguly, who is undoubtedly an able and intelligent leader, had to pull out a trick from under his hat. So did he! A wicket fell, courtesy Sourav, who took a good catch on a Murali Kartik’s ball. Sachin was dropped by Kartik, the catch if taken could have been the turning poin of the match. Good captaincy continued and the fight back was indeed commendable with MI needing 80 of 60. Some hem and haw from the home team showed the frustration in them. At the end, the game was won by Mumbai Indians who despite losing two wickets at crucial times managed to keep the score board ticking. R Satish made a good contribution of 21 making it practically impossible for KKR to come back in the match. With 9 deliveries to spare, the home team sailed to victory not letting the huge blue support base that came to support Mumbai Indians. Mukesh and Tina Ambani, the owners of Mumbai Indians were present too.
