DMK, Left in deep trouble as Congress, ADMK, TMC race ahead

The Left Front in Bengal is facing a heavy defeat, while DMK, as expected, has been overtaken by the ADMK. The Congress has taken a very strong lead in Assam, and in Puducherry the DMK is ahead than ADMK.

IN ASSAM the Congress is leading in 49 seats, while the Asom Gana Parishad is leading in 8 seats out of a total 126 seats. The DMK in Tamil Nadu is leading in 34 seats, the ADMK is racing ahead and recorded in 104 seats out of 234 seats.

The Trinamool Congress has a massive lead over the Left Front in 167 seats while the Left is ahead in 65 seats out of a total of 289 seats. In Puducherry, out of 30 seats the DMK is leading in 10 seats while the ADMK is ahead in 5 seats out of a total of 30 seats.The Election Commission is videographing the entire electoral process to preempt any malpractice.

In Kerala the Congress is leading in 65 seats, while the Left is leading in 60 seats, down 26 seats.

As per the Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi, the entire outcome of assembly polls will be known by early afternoon.

In Assam, counting is being carried out in 142 counting halls; 140 halls are being used in in Kerala, while 11 halls are being used in Puducherry; In Tamil Nadu counting is taking place in 234 halls; and 312 counting halls are being utilized in
West Bengal.

A massive 14.16 crore voters voted in the five states in which assembly elections took place in April-May in a phased manner. This formed 20 per cent of the total 72.8 crore voters in India - with the states of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal recording record voter turnouts.
