Instead of increasing more routes, DMRC should utilise new coaches and trains first, to ease traffic on existing routes. With the same running cost, the corporation can increase its revenue by doubling the number of coaches in the trains.
NEW METRO trains should be added by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on the crowded Kendriya Sachivalaya-Jahangirpuri route or the Yellow line.
After this route was extended from Vishvidyalaya to Jahangirpuri, it has experienced extraordinary crowding of the station platforms, ticket counters etc. The queues of waiting passengers often spread to outside the station premises during the peak hours.
Instead of increasing more routes, DMRC should utilise new coaches and trains first, to ease traffic on existing routes. With the same running cost, the revenue earned by the corporation can be increased by doubling number of coaches to eight in each train, which presently have just four coaches.
The rush inside the station and the jam packed metros have become so intolerable, that people are now thinking of using alternative modes of transport instead of the trains. Ladies especially face a harrowing time in the trains. To alleviate this problem, the corporation should reserve one coach for women in each train.
