DNA test confirms ND Tiwari is biological father of Rohit
Though it is a welcome step that courts made public the DNA tests of ND Tiwari and Rohit Shekhar but one just wonders why it takes five years for a simple scientific test to be conducted. Only relieving thing is that Rohit, who had been lurching in dark for years has proved himself right.

ROHIT'S HARDWORK and courage has finally brought him and his mother some relief. I salute the courage shown by 33-year-old Rohit who has been fighting a legal battle since September 2007 to prove that ND Tiwari is his biological father. Hats off to the judges of Delhi High Court also who did not come under pressure, otherwise if you go through the sequence of the events, you can make out that it was not that easy.

But my worries are that DNA test is just a scientific process and it could have taken some months only to prove the point. Why justice was delayed by five years? Who will compensate the mental trauma Rohit's family suffered during all these years? Politicians and criminals with assurance of lawyers have proved beyond doubt that justice can be definitely delayed in India in the name of benefit of doubt.

One can imagine the pressure on Rohit who has already suffered a heart attack at the age of just 33 years whereas ND Tiwari at the age of 86 still compares himself with Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave, Pandit Nehru, Madan Mohan Malviya. This certainly is a height of shamelessness. He should be tried again as a criminal who lied to the court through his affidavits. Tiwari says his simplicity was misused.

I am so happy that he is still alive at 86 and has to face the music for the rest of his life and his statue will not be garlanded according to Indian traditions, otherwise who knows his name could have been considered for President's post(there was a rumour during Dr Kalam's tenure).

Message has to be loud and clear in the society that delayed justice is no more welcome in India. Why there is a gap of 3-4 months between two hearings of any case? Why the judges are not judged by their quick sense of judgements? Judiciary should be held equally accountable for delayed judgements. Fast track courts should be set up for both civil and criminal cases.
