Do you know what you should avoid drinking during flight? The answer will shock you!
While it is always advisable to keep yourself hydrated during a flight, but there is one beverage that even flight attendants would advice you to avoid, and that's believe it or not, tap water. Surprised! Read on to know why!

Speaking to Business Insider, a flight attendant said that one should never drink tap water during flight as it could be contaminated. She said, "Flight attendants will not drink hot water on the plane. They will not drink plain coffee, and they will not drink plain tea."

The main reason behind it is that although water tanks in planes do get cleaned, but flight attendants are seldom informed when or how often cleaning is done. So, since they are unsure of the quality of water, they stay away from it during flight, unless of course, it's bottled.

Interestingly, a recent environment protection agency study found that 1 in every 8 planes had failed to meet the agency's standards on water safety. Furthermore, almost 12 per cent commercial aircraft in the United States had at least once tested positive for coliform – a bacteria found in human feces. Makes me wanna puke!

This claim has also been supported by The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA in USA.

They were quoted as saying, "Water onboard is regulated under the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure safe drinking water on the aircraft. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA pushed for this regulation over 15 years ago. The regulation gives broad directions to airlines on how often they must test the water and flush tanks. AFA does not believe this goes far enough or is sufficiently enforced."

So, next time you take a flight, make sure that you stick to bottled water, at least, I would!
