A splendid lyrical documentary is presented by Alina this time.
The documentary though simply but very beautifully portrays the daily
life of Laxmiprasad. The viewers saw the world
of Laxmi. There is
every known personality framed in Laxmi’s studio. The documentary
is a savage but uniquely modern presentation of art by Alina.
Laxmi’s ultimate lover is his art, the art of the needle. His
life starts at the dawn, from collecting leaves to cutting and sizing
them properly. After the leg work, starts the main magic of his
needle. He punctures the outline drew in the leaf, and punctures it
in such a way, that when he pours in colors of love it becomes a
mesmerizing treat to the viewer’s eye.
A recognition deprived artist like Laxmiprasad could have
sacrificed his artistic soul much before. But his poverty could not
pull him down, he ignoring the consequences of daily life, responses
to his lover’s call, he runs for love, runs for art. Winning over
enormous difficulties of life, he keeps going with his needle, colors
and palm leaves. Here, the audience can connect to both Laxmi and
The background music is commendable, poems used were again
excellent and it showed that Alina used a very few number of
resources. Still, the documentary is a success. People who have such
patience, love and passion to art, artisans and also have the
interest to know the inside story of these unfortunate patrons of
art, must watch the documentary.
