Dogs are more faithful than cats which is why Gurgaon loves them
Latest research has indicated that Gurgaon residents are buying pets in large numbers, and dogs are their favourite. While cats are temperamental, dogs give love to their owner, and are more..

“CATS ARE temperamental and usually not faithful. They don’t give love in return but expect pampering,” says Uttara Jindal Malhotra.

That’s why according to an owner of a pet shop in Gurgaon, Falsin, only one in hudred people buy cats as a pet. Whereas dogs are always their first preference, and the choice of their breed depends on the needs of the person wanting to have a dog as a pet.

As per a newspaper report, the number of people adopting pets are growing, and Gurgaon is in the lead amongst all cities. According to the The Times of India report, Gurgaon has the highest number of people who are buying pets especially dogs. But why only dogs, why not cats and other animals?

“Security and love are the major reasons for people buying and adopting more and more pets (dogs)” confirms Falsin. But there is another reason behind why people go for dogs.

“Dogs, in comparison, are more loving, giving and protective of their owners,” adds Uttara, who has a special love for dogs and works towards saving stray dogs with help of a NGO.

Apparently, human love for each other is not enough, and people expect love from animals - especially from dogs. This is strange but true as number of nuclear families is increasing in NCR, and more and more people find themselves alone and have nobody to share their feelings or are just looking for company who don't come with baggage or expectations - apart from feeding.

Increasing number of foreigners and expatriates in Gurgaon can also be the reason behind increasing number of pets in Gurgaon but the strange thing is that foreigners and expatriates don’t like dogs of imported breeds but they go for Indian dogs and even adopt stray dogs.

“Yes, foreigners who come to us are always asking for Indian breed of dogs and they don’t like to buy imported breeds. Some foreigners who are working with NGOs also adopt stray dogs and puppies to save them from death,” informs Falsin.

So whether, Indian or foreigner, humans are making dogs their best chum. Reasons might be different for each but their need for love and security is the same.
