Donald Trump celebrates Diwali at the Oval office
While celebrating Diwali at the White House, US President Donald Trump extended good wishes and lauded the contribution of Indian-Americans to science, medicine, business and education in the country.

Trump also said he greatly valued his strong relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has shared the video of Diwali celebrations at the White House. He deemed Diwali as one of the most important celebrations in the Hindu religion.

In his Facebook post trump wrote that Americans especially remembered the people of India on Diwali, the home of the Hindu faith who had built the world's largest democracy.

"A time of peace and prosperity for the New Year, it is a tradition that is held dear by more than 1 billion Hindus worldwide and more than 2 million Hindus in the United States. It is also celebrated by millions of Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains in America, India and around the world," stated Trump.

Both Trump and his daughter Ivanka lighted diya in the White House and expressed that they were proud to celebrate Diwali. They were joined by the Indian-Americans in Trump Administration and invited guests.
