Double life sentence for 11 RSS activists for murdering CPI-M youth
An Additional Sessions Court in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerela has sentenced 11 Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists to double life imprisonment for the murder of an activist of Democratic Youth Federation, the student wing of CPI-M.

The culprits who have been convicted are RSS activists by the names of Santosh, Manoj, Biju Kumar, Harilal, Renjith Kumar, Bibin, Satheesh, Bose, Vinod Kumar, Subhash, Satish and Sivalal.

Other than these 11, one of the accused was acquitted by the court, one died during trial and one is still absconding. Apart from these eleven who have been given a double life sentence, one has been sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment for helping the accused in evading the law and one more accused has been given life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 50,000. A total of 16 people were listed as accused in the case.

On April 1, 2008, Vishnu was hacked to death by RSS activists with swords in front of the Regional Passport Office at Kaithamukku. To prove it's stand, the prosecution examined 77 witnesses, produced 162 exhibits and 65 material objects during the trial.

The counsel for the accused had submitted that the accused were falsely implicated due to political pressure. But the court's verdict seems to have rejected this argument.
