After a spell of shower in Gurgaon, the poor drainage system is for everyone to see – waterlogging remains to be order of the day leading to road traffic as well. Few days ago, it is for the same reason that the residents of Palam Vihar had also come onto the streets to protest against the waterlogging, which might increase with monsoon expected to hit Gurgaon soon.
there is some respite for the residents of Gurgaon, as the government
passed HUDA's 140 crore drainage project not for HUDA sectors along
with other areas of the millennium city. As per HUDA engineers, two
drainages are expected to be constructed with one master drainage
already in place.
network is in a dilapidated state and needs to be remade. Two drains
will be laid through the city and will be covered concrete for which
we have just made a detailed notice for inviting tender," said
Hari Dutt, HUDA's executive engineer, reported the Times of India.
The two drain
networks will include areas such as Nathupur to DLF, HSIIDC to Sector
23 and from here to Rotary Public School, Rezangla Chowk via New
Palam Vihar and HUDA City Centre passing MG Road, Sikanderpur, MDI
Chowk and Atul Kataria chowk, crossing Sheetla Mata temple etc.
drainage network was in Gurgaon's pipeline for many a years and it
has finally been realised, though it may take time, as tenders have
not been alloted also.
