WITH THE US Open starting next week, the draw for the competition took place in Billy Jean King Tennis Center at New York. There were many tennis fans that were very eager to know whether the top seeds would bump onto one another en route to the finals. If both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer win all their matches, then they would be playing against one another in the semi finals of the competition. It could be the same with Nadal and Andy Murray too, who could face one another in the other semi-final.
The tournament is expected to be a big one for these four players as they would want to win the last grand slam of the year, US Open. Djokovic is the player to beat as he has been in a terrific form this season, with only two losses in the year. With players such as Nadal, Murray and Federer, he must come up with his ‘A’ class game, which he has been consistency doing. No wonder, he is the favourite to win the title.
Rafael Nadal would be playing Andrey Golubev who is ranked 97th in the ATP circuit. Andy Murray has been drawn against the top ranked Indian player, Somdev Devvarman. Federer will be playing Santiago Giraldo, of Colombia. It should be an easy game for all these players while playing against lesser known opponents in the first round of the competition, but they cannot take these matches lightly. A comprehensive victory on the court would give the much needed confidence when they face major players in the competition. Djokovic's opponent is still not known as he is scheduled to play one of the qualifiers who will qualify for the US Open via a qualifying tournament.
The final grand slam of the year is going to be a treat for those people who witness the match, as the competition is expected to be of high standard, as it has been for the past seasons in the US Open.
