Dropping of BJP MLAs from cabinet could dent the party in Malwa belt
There is a rumour about Punjab BJP doing rounds, and if it is to be believed, the Punjab government has dropped tow BJP ministers from the cabinet. One of these ministers is Ch.Surjit Kumar Jyani, Fazilka MLA and Forest and Labour Minister, and the other is Bhagat Chuni Lal, Local Bodies Minister.

The people of the area are surprised over the reports, according to which, Jyani is being asked to resign as his image is believed to be blot-less.  But there are possibilities of violating the orders of the BJP High Command or he might have become arrogant after becoming the Cabinet Minister and he may not be in a position to contribute to make the party stronger. But all these factors are not that serious that Jyani should be punished. But, as the saying goes, everything is fair in love and war and in politics too.

As far as Jyani is concerned, he has performed his duties as minister sincerely and with full dedication to maintain the image of the party. There is no denying the fact that Jyani has become familiar among the people of the area, holding regular meetings, attending number of functions and despite all this, the appearing of his name in the list of dropping of ministers is unbelievable.

In case the BJP High Command takes back the post of minister from Jyani, then there will be no minister from the Malwa belt who could pass on the message of BJP workers to the High Command as there is no minister in Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bhatinda, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Moga, Barnala, Sangrur and Fazilka except Jyani, and he is the only minister out of 25-30 assembly constituencies. If Jyani is removed from the cabinet, the BJP has to pay price at least in the Malwa belt.

Today, the dropping of BJP ministers from the Cabinet is a rumour, but tomorrow it could be a reality, as in politics there is always a slip between the cup and the lip. But we should not forget that “where there is smoke, there is fire”.
