Drugs are draining down young lives; better attend to proper up-brining of children
The occasional police raids on rave parties and news stories there upon reveal the tip the drug monster growing under the ground. More alarming is the involvement of youngsters in the drug abuse in a big way in rave parties.

One hears news about sports persons taking drugs to heighten the physical functions to perform better in the competition. While some others take drugs to alter their state of mind for a good feel after the defeat.

In the prosperous state of Punjab as well as in affluent families, the drug menace has taken deep roots. This reflects that when proper upbringing gets neglected, prosperity is of no use.

Drugs alter one or more body's physical and mental functions. Slowly, one becomes a drug addict or drug dependent which is detrimental to the individual or society or both.

Thus, drug dependence is a serious health and social problem wherein a craving for drugs takes roots.

At rave parties, when smoked or taken intravenously, the effect of the drug is produced almost immediately. When taken in this way, the drug gets into the blood stream and then to the brain tissues to give a high or a kick.

According to a Jaipur-based social psychologist, drugs when enter the brain, highjack some neural pathways to make the person get high on sensual and mental pleasures and the person starts craving for the drug. The ability to think gets totally blurred and the person gets into a confused state of mind. Only, proper up-brining and education are the ways out, it has been suggested.

So, say no to drugs!
