Durga Puja is festival of revival and rejuvenation: President Pranab Mukherjee
The festival of Durga Puja is being observed on October 10 in the country with devotion and gaiety.

Terming the festival as the occasion of revival and rejuvenation, the President of India,  Pranab Mukherjee in his message on the eve of Durga Puja said, "On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, I extend warm greetings and best wishes to all my fellow countrymen, in India and abroad."

He added, "Durga Puja marks the victory of righteousness over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Goddess Durga is the mother of the Universe and personification of all virtues. May this festival be an occasion for revival and rejuvenation."

He urged people to tread the path of moral rectitude and build a society in which woman are respected as equal partners in the building of our nation.

"Let us pray to Goddess Durga that she guide us on the path of right conduct and service to our nation," he appealed.

In Jaipur, the Probasi Bengali cultural society (PBCS) is celebrating a grand Durga Puja this year from October 6 to 11 at Jai Club Lawns with traditional fervour and gaiety to 'bring together all the sections of the society the rich, the poor cutting across caste, creed and religion or profession'.

Calling the festival the essence of integration and communal harmony, PBCS's Secretary extended warm wishes to all  and said that Durga Puja symbolized the victory of the good over evil.
