Dynastic politics prevailed in Bihar, educational qualification ignored
As expected, new ministry in Bihar was dominated by dynastic RJD when both the sons of party-supremo Lalu Yadav were given second and third ranks including of Deputy Chief Minister with important portfolios as if no other RJD MLA was more capable and deserving for coronation as Deputy Chief Minister.

Earlier also Lalu Yadav played behind the curtain by crowning his wife as Chief Minister of the state when he was convicted in the infamous fodder-scam. It may be recalled that an important RJD functionary was issued show-cause notice simply for questioning on naming RJD building in New Delhi after Rabri Devi!

It is time for massive reforms in political system where some minimum educational qualification may be fixed for contesting elections. If such minimum requirement is necessary for law-implementers, then it is rather even more necessary to have such requirement for law-makers.

There should also be an upper-age limit for being in legislature as advocated by Nanaji Deshmukh who even practiced it in life while quitting Union ministry and Parliamentary membership on attaining age of sixty years.

Such a system will effectively check dominating role of ageing politicians to induce dynasty in the system.
