Dysfunctional streetlights in Delhi - Gurgaon Expressway poses problems
Among a lot of issues, streetlights in the Delhi Gurgaon Expressway remains a big problem. Around 600 streetlights in the expressway remains non functional, even two months after the Feedback-Brisa Highways OMT took over the functioning of the road from the previous contractor.

This has led to a serious problem in the expressway with vehicles prone to accidents. It was only last year when the Joint Commissioner of Police Bharti Arora, in a letter had asked the concessionaire to improve the lighting of the road. As was reported by timesofindia.com, after the complaint, the lights were installed but after that their maintenance were not paid any attention to. It was the traffic police, who later pointed out that 500 lights were not working.

The new operator, however, said that around 70 per cent of the bulbs were in working condition. The official also added, '' To increase the amount to be spent on streetlights, we need to seek the IDFC's permission and this may take some time.''

The issue of the streetlights came to the fore after the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam disconnected power supply to the streetlights over non-payment of dues, amounting to nearly Rs 50 lakh. Currently, the toll operator is currently paying between Rs 75,000 and Rs 1 lakh daily on generators and diesel.
