TOMATOES, the ubiquitous vegetable found in every Indian kitchen can help in losing weight and stop you from becoming fat. As per a research conducted by a UK university, people eating tomatoes feel fuller and eat less due to the presence of appetite regulating harmones like Gherlin.

Tomatoes also contains Lycopene an anti-oxidant, which as per experts is very useful for human skin. Researchers at Reading University in UK served bread enriched with different vegetables to women between 18 to 35.

As per the findings, the tomato sandwiches were the most filling and the volunteers vouched for them as compared to the carrot sandwiches. Researchers said that the tomato sandwiches scored over carrot sandwiches despite the latter being fortified with additional fibre.

Researchers though cautioned that it was a small study and results could not be generalised but they deemed the findings to be significant. Tomatoes in additional to helping in losing flab are good for skin and help in healing wounds.

Is Tomato a vegetable or a fruit? According to Wikepedia, it belongs to Cherry family and as such is a fruit. Thank you.
