Eden showed flexibility when Shahrukh celebrated against Saurav
It was the team of Saurav Ganguly that King Khan's team defeated at the Eden Gardens. Still, Eden..

SHYLOCK IN The Merchant of Venice wanted to stick to the letters of Law for demanding the pound of Antonio’s flesh. Today, Shylock is in no way justified for his love for law. He is denounced universally. The MCA showed a similar zeal in banning Shahrukh Khan from entering Wankhede Stadium for five years. What does it mean? Is Shahrukh Khan a hooligan? Is Shahrukh Khan himself very much eager to enter the stadium as if he had no other jobs to do on the earth?

The decision is still more ludicrous when the BCCI finally insisted on assuring that the MCA resolution was only a recommendation. But why is such recommendation made at all? What was the great offence committed by the King of Bollywood? Such introduction of the kids was done in Eden itself. Shahrukh entered Eden after the match to introduce daughter Suhana and friends to KKR captain Gautam Gambhir after the match against Pune Warriors. It was the team of Saurav that King Khan’s team defeated. Still, Eden did not show this kind of inhuman treatment with a renowned actor like Shahrukh who is never reported against for any misdemeanor. He has never been accused of misbehaving in a drunken state although he takes 40 cups of black coffee everyday. He is the most jovial among the filmstars who shows less vanity in public. Nor does he break laws or takes it in his own hand.

Suddenly the Wankhede rises against him. The first apparent reason may be the defeat of the Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. The second reason for this violent action against Shahrukh is the antagonism of Shiv Sena against him.

Shahrukh Khan, was high and happy, and he refused to play ball when he was told by the stadium authorities that the victory celebration couldn't be taken to the grounds. He regarded it as unjustified  especially when he felt insulted in front of his kids. That's when the pitch took an abusive turn, and the actor and his faithful band of bodyguards ,allegedly, hurled abuses and even got physical with the stadium personnel. MCA vice-president Ratnakar Shetty also the BCCI's chief administrative officer, agreed that the BCCI had the final word. "State bodies can only recommend but a final decision has to be taken by the BCCI". BCCI itself is plagued with many corruptions. The Chief  Minister said that he would not have gone to the stadium if not invited. But that is not the way with everyone. Shahrukh is an eminent personality. Such a VIP guest never comes without invitation. But if he comes uninvited there should not be insult to be hurled at him. The reception should be more gorgeous, because the great man has come on his own. He is the owner the victorious team. This is enough for allowing him to celebrate even after the match.

He did not bring hooligans with him. He brought children, his own kids. Only brutes and inhumans can do such an insult to a father in front of children. Shahrukh might have great expectations about Wankhede after his experiences at Eden. Mumbai is not Kolkata. Wankhede is not Eden. He realized it once again. Not surprisingly, Shahrukh Khan's friends  and colleagues from the film industry rallied behind him, saying his actions were wise and whatever he did was justified. But Karan Johar best summed up in Twitter : “SRK is one of the best fathers i know....and protective about every child...he was being just that....a protective parent!!! Why blame a man who was just reacting as a father....who wouldn't have done the same in his place???"

MCA officials said the managing committee had recommended a lifetime ban but Deshmukh brought it down to five years, which he thought was good enough to send a strong message that "such nonsense" would not be tolerated. The question is who has done the greater nonsense? The security guard is guarded in whose interest? The former Maharashtra CM explained the decision was taken to protect the MCA's dignity: “We have no control over its decision( BCCI)  but we are also an independent body and the Wankhede is our property." Deshmukh ruled out the possibility of a rethink on the ban. "If rules are violated, action will be taken. It does not depend who the individual is. It's a message to everyone, whosoever he or she may be, that stern action will be taken if there is misbehaviour."

The question is that Law is for humans. And sometimes there is some flexibility. The thorough enquiry will show how many times these people themselves broke law and violated rules on many occasions. Today they are all sanyasis and pose to be the vanguard as Shahrukh has defeated the Mumbai Indians on their own soil. What will the IPL management say after the rape of the American woman? Just a day earlier it was fielding questions on the fracas between Shahrukh Khan and security personnel and officials at the Wankhede stadium. Now, it says that was not responsible for the behaviour of individual players after the rape.

Kirti Azad, a member of the team that won the 1983 World Cup, is bent on demanding  that the IPL be "closed" and threatened to go on a fast from May 20 against the event. IPL in his opinion is "against Indian culture".
