Education is not just for employment, but also for enhancement of knowledge and enlightenment: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu
Addressing the 31st Convocation of the Kurukshetra University in Haryana on April 19, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that every student must be disciplined and have an outlook for the development of the country, read an official release on the occasion.

According to Vice President Naidu, there was a direct linkage between education and employment. He urged students at the convocation to acquire knowledge and skill to take up new opportunities.

He was of the view that the students needed to contribute to the nation since education was not just for employment but also for enhancement of knowledge and enlightenment.

He added that democracy allowed meaningful debates on all pertaining problems, but only constructive debate could provide answers. He advised that protests should be peaceful since no one had the right to destroy the public property and violence could not be a solution.

He appreciated the efforts of the government of Haryana for giving priority to sports and complimented all the winners who have earned medals in recently held Commonwealth Games.

Governor of Haryana, Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, the Minister for Education, Haryana Ram Bilas Sharma and other dignitaries were present on the occasion, informs the release.

As a brain child of then Punjab governor, Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh, Kurukshetra University was established in the 1950s as a residential university and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India.

The university is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities and had made a great beginning with high standards of education with professors drawn from all across the nation. It has a huge campus spread over 400 acres of land.
