EID-UL-FITR, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims and Ganesh Chaturthi are being celebrated today with traditional rituals and values. Eid-ul-Fitr signifies the end of the month-long fasting in Ramadan.
Muslims all across the country assembled in mosques and Eid-gahs to offer special namaz and prayers and exchanged greetings. Eid-ul-Fitr festival marks sharing of happiness, love and amity besides strengthening the bonds of fraternity. Every year Ramadan is observed during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
the ten days long Ganesh Chaturthi festival also started all over India and especially in Maharastra. It marks the birth of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati's son Ganesh. During the festival devotees keep Ganesh idols in their temples and homes.
President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Lok Shabha speaker Meira Kumar have greeted the people on the auspicious occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Ganesh Chaturthi. In his message, the Prime Minister said that Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that symbolizes the cultural unity of the country bringing people of all walks of life together. He also said that Eid, celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramzan, is associated with sacrifice, kindness and help for the needy.
