Ek Tha Tiger promo faces trouble in Pakistan
Ek Tha Tiger trailers have been banned on Pakistan satelite televison channels and the reason, both filmmakers and Pak officials claim is the portrayal of spy agency ISI in bad light. It seems, time has come for Bollywwod filmmakers to grow up and show some good stuff other than cliched themes of an Indian actor killing hundreds of soldiers from neighbouring country with just six rounds.

EK THA Tiger is a highly anticipated film of Salman Khan and a movie that would see the bad boy of Bollywood in a serious role in a Yashraj film. However, the big news for the film is that Pakistan is not allowing satellite television to air the promos or any clippings from the film till they get an NOC from the Censor Board of Pakistan. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is behind the move as they are insisting on a NOC certificate before airing of promos of the film.

In its letter, the PEMRA said, “"The film's content is reportedly based on the activities of ISI and RAW. The basic theme of the film revolves around the ISI with the objective to tarnish the image of the state-owned institution,” as was reported in timesofindia.com. The film basically revolves around RAW and ISI and that seems to be the main issue with the authorities.

The Vice-President of marketing and communication of Yashraj films says that films that have already shown the ISI in poor light are actually the cause of the current problem. He also adds, “If you see the body of work of both Yash Raj Films and Salman Khan, you will appreciate that we would never go down this route.”

The director of the film Kabir Khan also feels that just because there is a mention of ISI and RAW, it doesn't mean that these institutions are shown in poor light. In spite of the initial hiccups, the distributors of the film feel that it is just a temporary thing and will pass with time. Yashraj Films would also not let go of the matter that easily and according to a source, an official from the film would also fly down to Pakistan and as per the latest news even Salman Khan would fly down with them.

Pakistan and controversy goes hand in hand

Pak bashing has become a style in Bollywood films. Gadar, Hero and a series of other films continuously show Pakistan in poor light. India- Pak may have their differences which they can sort out diplomatically or in battle field - but outside that, hurting sentiments with films is similar to guerilla warfare by terrorists.
