Electricity crisis yet to be over for residents of DLF in Gurgaon
Gurgaon residents have still not received the relief that the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam promised. The endless power cuts have not yet ended for the residents of DLF phases I to IV. The discom, having failed repeatedly to end the power supply crisis, has finally come up with a solution. The DHBVN have thought of a plan to install 30 new transformers to solve the overloading problems.

The DHBVN officials assure that the orders for the new high capacity transformers have already been placed, the augmentation work would be complete within a month.

Sanjeev Chopra, General Manager of DHBVN told, ''We were informed in the past regarding the various snags here with overloaded transformers being the biggest issue. Together we will be spending Rs 165 lakh for this project which will solve the problem of erratic supply and frequent outages to a large extent.''

The announcement came after the discom made the move to connect the four feeders in DLF Phase III via a ring system to check overloading.

Chopra also said that the supply issues in DLF is on the priority list of DHBVN. The DHBVN is taking immediate steps with a concrete long term plan, though the lasting solutions will take some time. An order for the new transformers has already been placed.

However, the residents were cautioned by DHBVN on extra scheduled power cuts while the infrastructure overhaul happens over the next three to four weeks. Chopra said, ''We seek cooperation from residents when new 40kVA transformers are being installed," he added.

The residents, however, are reacting in a completely different manner. R S Rathee of Gurgaon Citizens' Council, DLF Phase I, said, ''It's not the first time when DHBVN has made tall claims. We welcome the fact that they have ordered 30 transformers, but will wait till they are actually functional.''

The rain and overloading lead to the damage of four transformers which caused a lot of inconvenience to the residents. DHBVN tried to give relief to the residents by connecting the feeders via the ring system. It is expected that the new transformers will improve the situation significantly.
