Encounter in Kashmir's Kulgam: Four civilians and a soldier killed
In an encounter between the security forces and terrorists, an army soldier and four civilians have lost their lives. The encounter is still going on in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Another soldier who had been injured is reportedly in critical condition. As per reports, the security forces began a search operation after receiving information about presence of two to three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in the area. As the forces began the search operation, the trapped terrorists began firing.

As per reports, the locals started pelting stones on the security forces and in the ensuing clashes, four civilians including two teenagers died. Internet services have been suspended in the area while as in other areas of the Valley, internet speed has been slowed down. Schools and colleges have been asked to remain shut to avoid any further chances of clashes. The government is taking these steps as precautionary measures in order to avoid spreading of rumours which could result in more clashes.

As per reports, the three civilians who succumbed to injuries have been identified as Sharjeel Ahmad Sheikh and Bilal Ahmed Tantray and 16-year-old Faisal Ilahi.

This could signal the beginning of another troublesome summer in the Valley as today's encounter and deaths came just days after 20 people including 13 militants, four civilians and three soldiers were killed in various encounters in Jammu and Kashmir.
