Engineer and contractor responsible for damaged Jharsa road?
A road at Jharsa built just three months ago at a whopping cost of Rs 3 crores has reportedly developed a number of potholes, speaking volumes about the quality of material used by so called honest contractors.

IT IS a known fact that a contractor distributes 10-15 % of the total amount among the supervisory staff, engineers and the councillors. Just imagine the road recently built could not withstand even one rainy season.

The contractor must have been paid the full agreed amount long ago and he is supposed to repair the damages that occur to the road within a year. It is very well proved that the councillor, the citizens' supervisory committee and the JE concerned never supervised the work while it was in progress; no quality samples were taken/ approved and the completion certificate was handed over to please the contractor.

None of them ever had any public interests and all they cared about were their monetary and personal gains. I am of the very strong opinion that such cases must be referred to the vigilance committee so that the whole story from the date when the tenders were floated is unearthed and defaulting engineer and contractor are brought to book.
